Can eBay sellers good reputation be trusted?

By lorelei

Of course we will not buy from people with negative reputation, even if just a few customers before you were dissatisfied, still we will not take the risk, right? However, is good reputation is a guarantee of Your satisfaction?

I came to realize this when I was picking a bra from La Perla and came across a shop that obviously sells fakes. La Perla never gives discounts, they never ever cut down the tags in the end of the season, (unlike Victoria’s Secret or some others) and if you ever happened to hold La Perla in your hands, you know that it’s primarily the quality that counts greatly. You won’t find bras under 25$ because it costs more to make them, being sewing from top quality lingerie and spandex.

That store I am talking about were selling La Perla sets (!!) for around 15$, without tags yet with labels and from the big resolutions photos they offers, I could see what a low level lingerie it was,it looked cheap even on a picture. Having said that, this seller had over 50 sales and 100% good reputation.  How come?

Basically, if they always sold fakes and at least one person who wore La Perla before would have received their fake products, the 100% good reputation would obviously be hammered. But… Not every one who bought a “la perla” set for 15$ from that online store could actually afford a real one, which costs over 120$ in regular stores. In fact it costs more, but we are being positive and assume it’s possible to buy for cheap, somewhere.

My point is, not every buyer is an experienced buyer that KNOWS what he wants and knows what he or she HAS to receive. Some girls never even wore expensive lingerie and naturally won’t be able t tell a difference between fake and real, hence some seller who sale fakes prosper.
