Last week I spent almost the whole night awake trying to bid on a certain item. It seems like you really MUST NOT ever bid before the last minute because you will always get outbid and only create more interest around the item — if 10 people want it 3 days before auction ends and already the price is so high — it must be good. That’s the logic other bidders use and this is why I learnt my lesson - either give really high maximum price and go to sleep, or stay to guard the desired item and be very fast with your bidding.
